Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering innovative solutions across a diverse range of commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, industrial and mission-critical projects. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and client service, they are continuing to grow their Orlando team and are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide leadership, mentorship and technical oversight across complex engineering projects. The Role

The Senior Structural Engineer will serve as a technical leader within the structural engineering team, overseeing project execution from proposal development through design, construction administration and project closeout. This position combines hands-on engineering with project management, client-facing responsibilities, mentoring of junior staff and strategic leadership. The successful candidate will help ensure the highest standards of technical quality while building strong client relationships, driving project profitability and contributing to the continued growth of the Orlando operation. Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering projects from planning and proposal development through completion.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Provide technical guidance, oversight and quality control across all project phases.
  • Serve as lead structural engineer on complex projects.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers.
  • Conduct design reviews, peer reviews and QA/QC evaluations.
  • Oversee construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals and site visits.
  • Monitor project financial performance, profitability and revenue forecasting.
  • Assist with business development, proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing and development of engineering staff.
  • Participate in professional organisations, industry events and continuing education initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and operational leadership within the business unit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence required.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Proven experience leading projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building structural systems and design.
  • Experience coordinating directly with clients, architects and contractors.
  • Demonstrated success in project management, budgeting and scheduling.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and lead technical teams.
  • Experience overseeing QA/QC processes and maintaining high technical standards.
  • Business development or client management experience is highly desirable.
