Senior Transportation Planner
Our client, a regional multidisciplinary consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join its expanding Chicago team. This role is well suited for a transportation planning professional who is passionate about improving mobility, engaging with communities, and developing innovative solutions that create safer, more connected, and more sustainable transportation networks.

Responsibilities
- Lead multimodal transportation planning projects, including bicycle/pedestrian plans, transit studies, safety action plans, and corridor studies.
- Conduct transportation analysis and develop recommendations based on data, land use, and community needs.
- Support projects from planning through preliminary engineering in collaboration with design teams.
- Utilize GIS tools for mapping, spatial analysis, and project visualization.
- Assist with grant strategy and funding applications.
- Facilitate public engagement, stakeholder coordination, and community outreach efforts.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and planning documents.
- Mentor junior staff and support business development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- 5+ years of transportation planning experience.
- Background in multimodal, active transportation, transit, corridor, or safety-focused planning.
- Experience with transportation funding programs and grant development.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS and spatial analysis.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to collaborate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, SketchUp, or similar tools is a plus.
