Support of Excavation (SOE) Engineer
Overview:
LVI is partnered with one of New York's top engineering firms, currently seeking a highly experienced and self-sufficient Support of Excavation Engineer to lead complex urban excavation projects. This role is focused exclusively on SOE design and delivery, supporting construction in dense environments with adjacent structures. The position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity, with significant financial incentives tied to project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of support of excavation systems for urban construction sites.
- Develop engineering solutions to protect adjacent buildings and infrastructure during excavation.
- Produce and review technical documentation including design drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure safe and efficient excavation support strategies.
- Independently manage SOE design from concept through construction.
- Work closely with geotechnical teams to classify soil and integrate subsurface data into design.
- Maintain high productivity with a focus on SOE for up to 10 hours daily.
- Contribute to future structural integration as the role evolves.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with a strong focus on SOE.
- Proven ability to lead SOE projects independently
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, excavation support systems, and urban construction constraints.
- PE license preferred but not required.
- Experience with field investigations and soil classification.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to deliver under pressure.
- Strong communication and technical writing abilities.
Employee Benefits:
- Base Salary: $130,000-$160,000
- Bonus Structure: Project-based bonuses awarded upon completion of each SOE project. Bonus amounts vary depending on project size and complexity.
