Substation Manager
We are looking for a highly skilled, detail‑focused Senior Substation Engineer with strong creative and technical capabilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing, drafting, and executing designs for high‑voltage substations.
This role involves producing comprehensive designs for substation projects ranging from 4kV to 345kV and providing professional engineering review and sealing of all physical design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Support EPC proposal efforts by helping define clear project scopes, reviewing construction estimates with EPC partners, and ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
- Prepare detailed and timely client proposals, maintaining appropriate margins and evaluating risks with the Director of Substation Engineering and PMO Manager. Present proposals to clients when needed.
- Lead and oversee the full lifecycle of physical substation design projects-from early scoping through final design and implementation. Work may include station layouts, sections and elevations, conduit and cable plans, grounding design, control building layouts, lightning protection, and yard lighting. Approve, sign, and seal final design packages. Prepare project close‑out documentation.
- Serve as a technical expert for the organization, providing guidance on advanced engineering concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
- Conduct on‑site field assessments to gather design data and perform construction inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Manage quality control for assigned projects, ensuring all drawings, documents, and deliverables produced by the team are accurate and on schedule.
- Resolve complex engineering challenges and technical issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Maintain comprehensive project records, including calculations, communications, design decisions, justification notes, and relevant documentation.
- Mentor and train junior team members, sharing expertise and supporting their development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5-10 years of experience in physical design for high‑voltage substation projects.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong analytical abilities and the capability to solve technical problems effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
