Vice President/Infrastructure Engineering Lead | NYC, NY

An established and industry-recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking a seasoned Vice President / Transportation Infrastructure Leader to help drive the continued expansion of its transportation practice throughout the New York metropolitan region. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic growth, lead complex infrastructure initiatives, and mentor a highly skilled team of engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the transportation engineering group, including bridge, roadway, rail, and traffic engineering disciplines.
  • Direct the planning, design, analysis, and delivery of transportation infrastructure and capital improvement projects throughout the region.
  • Oversee engineering evaluations, inspections, load rating studies, rehabilitation designs, and replacement projects for bridges, transit facilities, waterfront structures, culverts, and related assets.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and ensure successful execution of projects ranging from targeted rehabilitation efforts to large-scale transportation improvements.
  • Guide and develop engineering, design, and BIM/CAD personnel through mentoring, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
  • Lead business development efforts, including client engagement, proposal preparation, and pursuit strategies for new opportunities.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and client meetings to strengthen market presence and build relationships.
  • Monitor staffing resources, project performance, budgets, and overall team utilization to support operational success.
  • Review financial forecasts, project metrics, and reporting requirements to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Support the development and refinement of engineering standards, design procedures, and quality assurance practices.
  • Foster and maintain strong partnerships with transportation agencies, municipalities, authorities, and other public-sector stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York required.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience within transportation, civil, or structural engineering.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams, managing complex infrastructure projects, and driving organizational growth.
  • Strong understanding of transportation design standards, engineering codes, and industry best practices.
  • Experience utilizing structural analysis and engineering design software.
  • Proven ability to manage staff, delegate responsibilities, and promote team development.
