Location: Nashville, TN
An established heavy civil contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the Nashville area. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced project managers and field leadership on complex municipal projects including water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, force mains, underground utilities, and related infrastructure improvements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to grow into a Project Manager role while gaining exposure to large-scale public infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and closeout of water/wastewater construction projects.
- Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract correspondence.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and production progress.
- Support procurement of materials and subcontractors.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project plans to identify potential issues and opportunities.
- Attend project meetings and maintain accurate meeting documentation.
- Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Support project teams during startup, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of construction experience, ideally within heavy civil, utility, or water/wastewater construction.
- Experience with pump stations, lift stations, treatment plants, underground utilities, force mains, or related municipal infrastructure is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Desire to grow into a Project Manager role within a leading infrastructure contractor.
