Chicago | CEI Senior Roadway and Bridge Construction Engineer
My client, a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm, is looking to add a Senior Roadway & Bridge Construction Engineer to their growing CEI team in the Chicago area. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role on high-profile transportation projects while helping mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and drive project success across Illinois.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee construction inspection activities on roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and MOT projects.
- Manage construction engineering and inspection (CEI) staff and coordinate daily project activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and project progress to ensure successful delivery.
- Review construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and inspection staff.
- Support business development efforts and help maintain strong client relationships.
- Contribute to the growth and enhancement of the firm's transportation CEI capabilities.
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- EIT/FE certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
- 5+ years of transportation construction engineering and inspection experience.
- Experience overseeing roadway, bridge, and infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local transportation regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering/construction technology tools.
