Location: Puyallup, WA
A well-established general contractor based in Puyallup, WA is looking to bring on an experienced Directional Drilling Foreman to lead field operations for underground utility and infrastructure projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a leadership role and is ready to take ownership of daily field activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise directional drilling crews on active job sites
- Operate and oversee HDD equipment including drills, locators, and support trucks
- Interpret construction plans and ensure accurate bore paths and utility placements
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety protocols
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Resolve field issues and ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope
Experience Required
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in horizontal directional drilling (HDD)
- Prior experience in a foreman or crew lead role
- Proficiency with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drilling systems
- Background in underground utility installation (water, sewer, power, telecom)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus
- Valid CDL (Class A preferred) with a clean driving record
- Strong understanding of utility locating and safe digging practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
