DL - Project Engineer
LVI Associates is partnering with a respected structural engineering consulting firm in Santa Clara County to identify a Mid-Level Structural Engineer for their growing team. Position Overview
The Mid-Level Structural Engineer will support the analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through construction. This role offers direct involvement with clients, architects, contractors, and project teams while providing opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a motivated engineer with strong technical fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and experience designing a variety of building structures using modern engineering software.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis
- Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
- Develop structural calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary consultants throughout project delivery.
- Support design efforts from schematic design through construction administration.
- Review drawings and models for technical accuracy and constructability.
Project Execution
- Manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure quality deliverables and timely completion of project milestones.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and coordination discussions.
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and support construction-phase services.
Technical Growth & Leadership
- Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
- Contribute to quality control reviews and technical standards development.
- Stay current with building codes, industry standards, and emerging technologies.
- Participate in internal training, technical committees, and professional development programs.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis or related discipline.
- 4-8 years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience designing commercial, institutional, multifamily, industrial, or technology-related facilities.
- Strong understanding of California building codes and design standards.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Structural Engineer (SE) license or active pursuit of SE licensure.
- Experience with seismic design and retrofit projects.
- Familiarity with existing building evaluations and renovations.

Compensation & Benefits
