EHS Manager, Data Centre
Position Title: Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager
Reporting To: Global EHS Director and APAC Director of Construction
Location: Japan
Role Summary:
The EHS Manager is responsible for supporting local leadership in cultivating and continuously enhancing a strong Environmental, Health, and Safety culture across worksites in Japan.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred, or at least 10 years of experience in construction EHS.
- Completion of foundational safety training such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction, Incident Investigation, OSHA 500.
- Professional certifications like CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or SHEP are advantageous.
- Solid understanding of EHS Management Systems.
- Familiarity with internal EHS policies and procedures.
- Formal training in incident investigation methodologies (e.g., TapRooT®, 5 Whys).
- Proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- Additional training may be required as directed by the Global EHS Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote EHS awareness and integrate it into line management responsibilities and goals.
- Support line management in:
- Implementing EHS Management Systems.
- Tracking EHS performance objectives.
- Coordinating with contractors and regulatory bodies on EHS matters.
- Identifying and evaluating site-specific risks.
- Creating localized procedures, instructions, and checklists.
- Developing and overseeing site-specific EHS plans.
- Ensuring compliance with EHS policies, standards, and procedures.
- Planning and participating in internal and external audits.
- Resolving issues within BIM 360.
- Submit monthly site work hour reports to the Global Safety Director.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Develop and maintain site-specific safety plans.
- Review risk assessments and method statements before work begins.
- Collaborate with client EHS representatives and attend related meetings.
- Conduct monthly site inspections and document findings in BIM 360.
- Assist in setting and tracking site safety objectives.
- Analyze safety observation trends monthly.
- Liaise with government agencies as needed.
- Distribute quarterly EHS training completion statistics.
- Immediately intervene in any unsafe acts.
- Communicate updates on legal and regulatory requirements to staff.
- Organize and/or deliver EHS training for staff and site personnel.
- Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure emergency drills are conducted as required.
- Report all incidents promptly.
- Oversee DataScope implementation, training, and reporting.
