About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing preconstruction team in Pittsburgh, PA. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial and industrial electrical construction projects, supporting successful project delivery through accurate estimating, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical construction methods, labor productivity, materials pricing, and estimating best practices. This role requires the ability to independently develop detailed estimates while collaborating closely with project managers, operations teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete and accurate electrical estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using estimating software and digital takeoff tools.
- Develop pricing strategies, labor projections, and material cost analyses.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, scope review meetings, and client meetings as required.
- Coordinate with general contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and vendors throughout the estimating process.
- Identify design discrepancies, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) and incorporate responses into project estimates.
- Maintain detailed estimate documentation and bid backup information.
- Support bid reviews and turnover meetings with operations and project management teams.
- Assist in mentoring and developing junior estimating staff as needed.
- Ensure all bid submissions are completed accurately and within project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator.
- Strong background in commercial and/or industrial electrical construction.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Experience preparing estimates at various design stages, from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission.
- Knowledge of electrical installation methods, labor units, productivity factors, and material pricing.
- Proficiency with estimating software, preferably Accubid.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $100K to $100M.
- Familiarity with value engineering processes.
- Experience working with large general contractors, industrial clients, and complex project environments.
- Ability to identify project risk and provide effective cost-saving recommendations.
