Overview

We are seeking a Building Automation Controls Engineer to join a growing systems integrator delivering complex BAS projects across multiple sites. This is a high-travel role (~50%), focused on commissioning, integrating, and supporting DDC systems (Tridium Niagara & Distech Controls) within commercial and mission-critical environments.

This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working on-site, solving technical challenges, and delivering fully integrated smart building systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site commissioning, start-up, and integration of BAS/DDC systems
  • Program, configure, and optimise Tridium Niagara (N4/AX) front-end and controllers
  • Integrate Distech and other third-party DDC systems via BACnet, Modbus, and other open protocols [lviassociates.com]
  • Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to ensure system performance
  • Develop control logic, sequences of operation, and system graphics
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to deliver projects on time
  • Provide technical support, training, and system handover documentation
  • Travel to project sites across the region (~50%) for installation, commissioning, and support
  • Maintain detailed as-built documentation, commissioning reports, and system architecture

Core Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Building Automation / Controls Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Tridium Niagara (N4/AX)
    • Distech Controls
  • Proven background in DDC system commissioning & integration
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and sequences of operation
  • Experience troubleshooting system performance and communication issues
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred

  • Niagara Certification (AX/N4)
  • Experience working for a controls integrator or contractor
  • Exposure to additional platforms (JCI Metasys, Siemens, Alerton, etc.)
  • Knowledge of IP networking and system integration
