The Opportunity
This is a senior-level, hands-on design role with real ownership from day one. You won't just be reviewing work, you'll be leading projects from concept through construction bid, developing full PS&E packages, managing schedules and budgets, and helping shape the firm's technical direction. 🔧 What You'll Be Doing
- Leading development of civil/water resources design projects from concept through construction bid, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Performing detailed hydrologic studies - rainfall-runoff modeling, flood frequency analysis, regional hydrology, reservoir routing, and more
- Running advanced 1D and 2D hydraulic and sedimentation analyses to solve complex flood problems
- Designing flood control channels, levees, debris basins, hydraulic structures, and scour protection
- Producing civil construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, site layout, drainage, and erosion/sediment control
- Mentoring and teaching junior project engineers on design tasks, drawing production, and quantity estimating
- Supporting proposal development and project scope write-ups for new pursuits
- Communicating technical findings clearly to clients, agencies, and the public
What You'll Need
- 7+ years of experience in civil water resources design
- California PE license (multi-state licensure a bonus)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Solid working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling (1D & 2D)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience preparing full PS&E packages for water resources projects
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, accessible graphics and reports
- A proactive, organized mindset and the ability to both lead tasks independently and collaborate within a team
Bonus Points For
- Sediment transport modeling and scour analysis experience
- Design experience with dams, debris basins, or other major hydraulic structures
- MicroStation proficiency
- Multi-state PE licensure
