Position Summary: The Originator will lead the initiation, development, and negotiation of structured energy transactions with electricity retailers, generators, and trading houses in Japan. This role involves managing customer portfolios and contractual relationships, and contributing to the company's growth plans, both organic and in-organic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Scanning: Continuously scan the market to identify and engage with established and new customers. This includes monitoring industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Develop and manage relationships with a prioritized funnel of structured electricity trading prospect customers. This involves regular communication, understanding customer needs, and providing tailored solutions to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Deal Management: Lead the pitching, negotiation, mandating, and project management of a portfolio of term or framework deals to conclusion. This includes preparing proposals, conducting negotiations, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met.
  • Product Development: Work with internal stakeholders to develop and structure bespoke products that serve customer requirements on risk management and capital constraints. This involves collaborating with product development teams to create innovative solutions that address customer challenges and enhance value.
  • Growth Opportunities: Uncover and pursue in-organic growth opportunities in Japan. This includes identifying potential partnerships, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives that can drive business expansion.
  • Sales & Marketing: Develop sales and marketing materials and work with Corporate Relations to refine and update the company website. This involves creating compelling content that highlights the company's offerings and engages potential customers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with internal stakeholders on value chain integration opportunities. This includes collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless integration of processes and maximizing synergies across the organization.
  • Performance Monitoring: Implement and oversee performance monitoring systems to track the success of energy transactions and customer engagements. This includes analyzing data, generating reports, and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all transactions and activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. This involves staying updated on regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge. This includes mentoring junior staff and facilitating professional growth within the team.
  • Customer Feedback: Gather and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and innovation. This involves conducting surveys, interviews, and other feedback mechanisms to understand customer experiences and expectations.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with energy transactions. This includes conducting risk assessments, developing contingency plans, and ensuring robust risk controls are in place.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the profitability and feasibility of energy transactions. This involves analyzing financial statements, market trends, and other economic indicators to make informed decisions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the progress and outcomes of energy transactions and customer engagements. This includes providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
