Programmer
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
- Program and configure industrial control systems using platforms such as Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, and other industry-standard technologies.
- Develop HMI graphics, operator interfaces, alarms, trends, and reporting systems that improve plant visibility and operational efficiency.
- Configure and troubleshoot SCADA systems, communication networks, and field devices.
- Perform system testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
- Assist with startup and implementation of control systems at client facilities.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and network issues both remotely and on-site.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, operators, and technicians throughout project execution.
- Prepare technical documentation including control narratives, I/O lists, functional descriptions, and programming standards.
- Provide training and support to end users following project implementation.
- Travel to project sites as needed for commissioning, startup, and client support.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience programming industrial automation and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Ignition, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Siemens, or similar automation platforms.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3, OPC, and related networking technologies.
- Experience supporting water/wastewater, utilities, manufacturing, or other industrial automation environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot control systems, instrumentation, and communication networks in both office and field environments.
- Familiarity with databases, SQL, reporting tools, and data collection platforms is a plus.
- Understanding of electrical control systems, instrumentation, and process control principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel for project commissioning, startup support, and client meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical field preferred, but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
