Senior Drainage Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Drainage Engineer to join a well-established and respected civil engineering firm in the Pacific Northwest. This firm is known for its innovation, mentorship culture, and impactful infrastructure work across the region. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic design, strong leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring and delivering high-quality transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead drainage engineering teams on transportation projects including freeways, interstates, interchanges, urban and rural highways, and shared-use facilities.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support the design and construction of transportation infrastructure, site developments, and flood control systems.
  • Design stormwater systems including storm sewers, culverts, detention/water quality facilities, bridge deck drainage, river and bridge hydraulics, and roadside ditches.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of assigned design teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Develop and review design plans and technical details using OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
  • Produce and quality control erosion control and stormwater management plans, reports, quantities, and specifications.
  • Serve as the lead drainage technical liaison with clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Manage and mentor local drainage engineering staff, fostering technical growth and team development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of drainage design experience related to transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Utah.
  • Proven ability to lead effectively in a collaborative team environment and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience working with local counties and municipalities on public infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HEC-RAS.
