A well-established engineering and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing team. This role supports a diverse portfolio of industrial, commercial, municipal, and energy-related projects, combining hands-on electrical design with project leadership and client engagement.

Role Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical system design across multiple voltage classes, technical analysis, preparation of construction documents, and oversight of projects through design and construction. The role includes acting as a technical advisor, supporting proposals, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior engineers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems, including 277/480V and 120/240V systems
  • Perform conductor and conduit sizing, MCC layout, motor control design, grounding systems, and control system design
  • Conduct arc-flash studies, electrical analyses, and prepare technical calculations
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and complete technical work product
  • Serve as a technical advisor for electrical and controls design
  • Develop project scopes and budgets to support proposals
  • Oversee construction activities as the client's technical representative
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients
  • Maintain strong working relationships across project stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, as applicable

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure within a defined period
  • 5-10 years of experience supporting industrial and/or commercial electrical design projects
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and projects concurrently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in low-voltage power system design
  • Instrumentation and controls design experience
  • Field experience troubleshooting and installing electrical systems
  • Experience supporting water treatment, industrial, or utility facilities
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC coordination, and control networks
  • Experience preparing arc-flash studies and working with medium-voltage utility systems
  • Familiarity with safety programs such as 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior technical staff
