Location: Remote (Preferred: Tucson, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, or Las Vegas, NV)
Relocation/Travel: Candidates must be open to relocating to Tucson, Phoenix, or Las Vegas. Individuals not based in Tucson should be willing to travel there up to 75% of the time.
The Opportunity
An engineering consulting firm serving the municipal water and wastewater industry is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) to provide technical leadership on critical infrastructure projects. This position offers a blend of hands-on electrical and controls engineering, project management, client interaction, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from concept through construction, working on water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, wells, and related facilities. They will lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, manage client relationships, and act as a key technical resource throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and design efforts for municipal water and wastewater projects.
- Manage projects through planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
- Collaborate with operators, contractors, field personnel, and clients to deliver practical, buildable solutions.
- Support business development initiatives and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
- Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience within design and construction environments.
- Ability to travel up to 50% based on project requirements.
Preferred Experience
- Municipal water and wastewater facilities.
- Consulting engineering environments.
- Instrumentation & Controls (I&C).
- PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Power distribution systems and motor control centres (MCCs).
- Standby and emergency power systems.
- Project management and client-facing responsibilities.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to an Electrical Engineer with experience designing and delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects, including power distribution, MCCs, instrumentation and controls, PLC-based automation, and SCADA integration.
