Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead heavy civil projects from award through closeout. This role will oversee earthwork, underground utility, paving, and site civil projects while managing budgets, schedules, client relationships, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong civil project management experience, solid financial awareness, and the ability to lead both field and office teams. This position is well suited for someone who can run work independently, support younger project staff, and help improve processes as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead heavy civil, paving, earthwork, and underground utility projects from startup through final closeout
- Manage project budgets, schedules, cost tracking, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal resources
- Serve as a key point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Work closely with superintendents, foremen, estimators, and leadership to keep projects on track
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documents to fully understand scope and risk
- Track project costs, quantities, production, change orders, billing, and overall financial performance
- Support project planning, procurement, material coordination, and schedule development
- Identify risks early and help resolve issues before they impact cost, quality, or schedule
- Provide leadership and guidance to project managers, assistant project managers, and project engineers where needed
- Maintain clear communication between field teams, office staff, clients, and subcontractors
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards
- Support project closeout, final documentation, and client follow-up
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in heavy civil, sitework, paving, or underground utility project management
- Strong background managing earthwork, utilities, asphalt paving, and site civil projects
- Proven ability to lead projects independently from award through closeout
- Experience managing budgets, change orders, cost reports, billing, schedules, and project documentation
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients, field teams, and leadership
- Experience mentoring junior project staff or helping develop internal teams is preferred
- Familiarity with HeavyBid, Bluebeam, AGTEK, Excel, or similar construction software preferred
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities at once
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
