Survey Project Manager
As the Survey Department Manager, you will lead and grow a high-performing surveying team while overseeing projects from initial client engagement through final deliverables. This leadership role combines operational management, technical oversight, business development, and team mentorship within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You'll work closely with clients, guide project execution, and leverage advanced geospatial technologies to deliver accurate, high-quality surveying solutions.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily land surveying operations and ensure successful project execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing exceptional service.
- Prepare project proposals, budgets, contracts, and invoices.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of multiple survey crews and technical staff.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of survey projects and deliverables.
- Drive business development efforts by expanding relationships with existing clients and identifying new opportunities.
- Collaborate across surveying and geospatial disciplines, including LiDAR, laser scanning, mobile mapping, GPS, rail surveys, and conventional surveying services.
- Mentor and develop survey professionals, fostering technical growth and leadership within the team.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/PSM) license required.
- 10+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including project management and team leadership responsibilities.
- Proven ability to develop new business, maintain client relationships, and generate revenue.
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA/NSPS, and geospatial surveying practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in industry-standard surveying equipment, software, and geospatial technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
