Transportation Group Manager | Wall, NJ

This leadership role is responsible for unifying and advancing the firm's transportation capabilities across highway, traffic, and bridge engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, foster collaboration between technical teams, and help expand the organization's presence within the transportation infrastructure market through strategic leadership, client engagement, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Direct the overall operations, growth, and strategic vision of the Transportation Department.
Lead a diverse team of transportation professionals, including technical staff, project leaders, and discipline managers.
Develop departmental initiatives that align with corporate objectives, revenue goals, and market expansion strategies.
Ensure the successful delivery of transportation projects through effective oversight of schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client commitments.
Act as a senior advisor on major transportation assignments involving roadway, traffic, and bridge infrastructure.
Strengthen existing partnerships and cultivate new relationships with agencies such as NJDOT, counties, municipalities, transportation authorities, and other public-sector organizations.
Represent the company during client meetings, project interviews, presentations, and strategic business discussions.
Identify emerging opportunities in the marketplace and pursue initiatives that expand transportation services and client relationships.
Oversee proposal preparation, fee development, contract negotiations, and pursuit strategies for key projects.
Manage departmental financial performance, utilization goals, forecasting, and backlog planning.
Coordinate staffing resources to balance workloads and support efficient project execution.
Attract, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering and project management professionals.
Create professional development pathways that support succession planning and long-term organizational growth.
Encourage integration between transportation teams and other service lines, including environmental, civil/site, geotechnical, water resources, and construction management groups.
Maintain technical excellence through appropriate review procedures and quality management practices.
Guide the implementation of departmental processes, engineering standards, and operational best practices.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local design standards, regulations, and agency requirements.
Provide leadership in resolving complex project, contractual, staffing, and client-related challenges.
Contribute to long-range business planning by evaluating industry trends, market conditions, resource needs, and strategic growth opportunities.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; advanced degree in Transportation, Structural, or Civil Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required, with New Jersey registration preferred or the ability to secure licensure through reciprocity.
15+ years of experience within transportation engineering, infrastructure consulting, bridge engineering, roadway design, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated success managing transportation projects through planning, design, permitting, procurement, and construction phases.
Strong technical understanding of highway, traffic, and/or bridge engineering practices.
Proven experience leading large technical teams and supervising project managers and senior engineering staff.
Established relationships within the New Jersey transportation market and familiarity with public-sector clients.
Track record of generating new business, securing projects, and developing long-term client partnerships.
