Traveling Superintendent - Commercial Construction
An established, employee-owned commercial builder is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead the field operations of complex healthcare construction projects across the United States. Position Overview
The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of healthcare construction projects ranging from approximately $25M to $80M+. This individual will oversee all on-site activities, coordinate subcontractors, drive project schedules, enforce safety standards, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing ground-up healthcare or other complex commercial construction projects and is comfortable traveling nationwide for project assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all field operations from project startup through final completion.
- Maintain project schedules and coordinate subcontractor manpower to ensure milestone achievement.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and jobsite safety inspections.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety standards.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, scope documents, RFIs, change orders, and project requirements.
- Coordinate daily activities between ownership groups, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project management staff.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, equipment procurement, and material coordination.
- Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and suppliers to verify site conditions, layouts, sequencing, and project expectations.
- Monitor workmanship and quality control throughout construction.
- Maintain all project documentation, reports, and jobsite records in a timely and organized manner.
- Proactively identify and resolve field issues to minimize schedule impacts and project risk.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, profitably, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; additional construction-related education is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Lead Superintendent, or Senior Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
- Previous healthcare construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing ground-up projects valued from $25M to $80M+.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationwide for project assignments.
- Strong background supervising subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades simultaneously.
- Proficiency with construction technology including Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and keep projects moving forward.
- Commitment to maintaining a safety-first jobsite culture.

- Competitive base salary targeted in the $130,000 - $160,000+ range, based on experience and project background.
