A confidential client operating in the energy and utility infrastructure space is seeking a Senior Leader of Safety, Quality & Regulatory Affairs to oversee strategic safety and compliance initiatives across a broad range of field operations. This executive-level position will guide the development and execution of programs that support safe, high-quality delivery of services in power distribution, natural gas systems, renewable energy installations, site utilities, and communications networks.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for shaping and executing a company-wide vision for safety and quality performance. The successful candidate will lead efforts to reduce operational risk, ensure regulatory alignment, and embed a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization. The scope includes oversight of field operations, training, incident response, and continuous improvement across multiple utility sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategic initiatives that enhance safety and quality outcomes across all service lines.
- Build and sustain a safety-first culture that supports operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Design and implement sector-specific safety and quality programs tailored to power delivery, gas utility work, renewable energy systems, and telecom infrastructure.
- Ensure alignment with all applicable regulatory frameworks, including environmental, transportation, and occupational safety standards.
- Oversee the creation of training programs focused on hazard awareness, emergency procedures, and technical protocols for both employees and subcontractors.
- Lead investigations into operational incidents, ensuring thorough analysis and corrective action planning.
- Monitor performance indicators and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Conduct enterprise-level risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for high-risk activities.
- Manage internal audits and inspections to verify adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Maintain and evolve emergency response and business continuity plans.
- Coordinate readiness exercises and simulations to validate preparedness across operational teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, client representatives, and internal leadership on safety and quality matters.
- Present strategic updates and performance reports to executive stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of leadership experience in safety, quality, and compliance within energy infrastructure, utilities, or industrial services.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, Six Sigma) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and operational risk management across multiple sectors.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive enterprise-level initiatives.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience with safety and quality management systems and performance analytics tools.
