Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and growth-oriented Water/Wastewater Practice Leader to lead and expand our Water/Wastewater practice in Phoenix, Arizona. This individual will be responsible for driving business development, strengthening client relationships, overseeing project delivery, developing staff, and establishing the long-term vision for the practice across Arizona and the Southwest.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Growth
- Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives for the Water/Wastewater practice.
- Establish annual business goals, revenue targets, and market development strategies.
- Identify and pursue opportunities with municipalities, water districts, utility agencies, and industrial clients.
- Expand the firm's presence and reputation throughout Arizona and the Southwest.
Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
- Lead major pursuits, proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Develop a robust project pipeline and oversee pursuit strategy.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients.
Project Oversight
- Provide executive-level oversight for major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Ensure successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, quality, and risk management efforts.
- Support project teams during planning, design, permitting, construction, and implementation phases.
Team Development & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of project managers, engineers, and technical professionals.
- Drive recruiting, hiring, and succession planning initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Support career development planning and leadership development programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in water and wastewater consulting.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, departments, or engineering practices.
- Strong business development background with a history of winning municipal work.
- Experience managing large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with Arizona municipalities, water districts, and utility agencies.
- Experience leading regional or statewide practice growth initiatives.
- Design-build, CMAR, and alternative delivery experience.
- Active participation in professional organizations such as WEF, AZ Water, APWA, or ACEC.
