About the Role

Our client, a nationally recognized general contractor with a rapidly growing mission critical portfolio, is seeking a General Superintendent with a strong MEP background to lead field operations on large-scale data center construction projects.

This individual will serve as the senior site leader, overseeing all construction activities while driving safety, quality, schedule, and operational performance. A significant portion of the role will focus on coordinating complex MEP installations, commissioning activities, and trade partner execution throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will combine strong field leadership experience with a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within mission critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project turnover.
  • Lead and coordinate superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, and trade partners across multiple disciplines.
  • Develop and execute site logistics, sequencing, workforce planning, and recovery strategies.
  • Oversee installation and coordination of critical MEP systems, ensuring alignment with project milestones and commissioning requirements.
  • Drive project schedules and hold trade partners accountable for productivity and performance.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence across the project site.
  • Lead daily coordination meetings, pull-planning sessions, and subcontractor progress reviews.
  • Partner closely with Project Management teams to manage risk, resolve field issues, and support project objectives.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, startup, commissioning, and owner turnover activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction superintendent experience, including leadership on large-scale commercial, industrial, advanced manufacturing, or mission critical projects.
  • Strong MEP background with extensive experience overseeing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and commissioning activities.
  • Proven experience leading field operations on projects valued at $100M+.
  • Deep understanding of critical infrastructure systems, construction sequencing, and trade coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large craft workforces and multiple subcontractor teams simultaneously.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, technically demanding construction environments.
  • Ability to travel or relocate based on project needs.

Preferred Experience

  • Data center or mission critical construction experience.
  • Experience overseeing commissioning and turnover of complex MEP systems.
  • Previous responsibility for hyperscale, colocation, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • Experience managing large self-perform or heavily MEP-driven projects.
