Position Title: Transmission Planning & Engineering - Engineer II
Location: Phoenix, AZ

Role Overview:
This entry-level engineering position supports the planning and implementation of transmission system projects. The role involves applying foundational engineering principles to assist with technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and project development. Engineers in this role contribute to business case preparation, system modeling, and operational planning, while collaborating across teams to ensure project success. Assignments are generally limited in complexity and scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of transmission system plans and infrastructure projects.
  • Support technical and economic analyses for proposed initiatives.
  • Contribute to the creation of engineering documentation including designs, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for assigned systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment with scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Participate in the preparation of business cases and operational strategies.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and engineering practices.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of basic engineering principles, calculations, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and safety practices within the applicable engineering discipline.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical data and collaborating with diverse teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science from an accredited institution, plus two years of relevant engineering experience.

Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Nuclear, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Structural, Architectural, Electronics.

Core Accountabilities:

  1. Assist with data analysis, technical reviews, and feasibility assessments to support decision-making.
  2. Prepare engineering plans, documentation, and specifications in compliance with standards and regulations.
  3. Interface with internal teams and customers to ensure project requirements are met.
  4. Provide technical and field support, identify issues, and contribute to corrective actions.
  5. Support system testing and analysis to reduce equipment failures.
  6. Participate in presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  7. Maintain awareness of current technologies and industry developments through ongoing learning.
