About the Role:
Our client, a leading mechanical contractor based in Springfield, Massachusetts, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical BIM/VDC Lead to join their team. In this vital role, you will lead the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes on high-value commercial and healthcare projects, valued at $40M and above. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience managing and executing complex mechanical system models and coordinating project teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

As they continue to grow, they are seeking a BIM/VDC Lead to drive efficiency, streamline processes, and ensure the integration of advanced technologies in their project workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the BIM/VDC process for mechanical systems on large commercial and healthcare projects.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure all models are aligned with project specifications.

  • Develop and manage 3D models of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, etc.) using BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or similar tools.

  • Conduct clash detection, resolve conflicts, and ensure constructability of the designs.

  • Oversee the integration of VDC tools into the project lifecycle, including virtual simulations, 4D/5D modeling, and other advanced technologies.

  • Provide technical leadership and training to internal teams and external partners on BIM/VDC best practices.

  • Support project teams with model coordination, data management, and analysis to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements for BIM/VDC deliverables.

  • Manage the creation and maintenance of project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, and change orders.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of project schedules and budgets in collaboration with project managers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in BIM/VDC coordination and implementation within the mechanical contracting industry.

  • Strong experience with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and other relevant BIM software tools.

  • Hands-on experience with 3D modeling, clash detection, and virtual simulations on large-scale commercial or healthcare projects.

  • Understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) and how they integrate into overall building systems.

  • Proficiency in VDC tools and technologies (e.g., Navisworks, Solibri, or similar).

  • Excellent project coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Experience managing and mentoring junior BIM/VDC team members.

  • Familiarity with construction processes, project life cycles, and industry standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Certifications (e.g., LEED, BIM Level 2, or VDC-related) are a plus.
