Summary

A global leader in water and process technology solutions is seeking a full-time Applications Engineer to join its team at the company's Hartland, WI location. This role is essential in supporting innovative projects that address water scarcity, promote sustainability, and advance technologies such as water reuse, desalination, zero liquid discharge (ZLD), and resource recovery.

This position involves direct engagement with clients, creative process design, technical proposal development, and collaboration across engineering, sales, and project teams. Candidates must be open to relocating to the Hartland/Milwaukee area.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients to define process performance needs and technical requirements.

  • Design systems using evaporation and crystallization technologies to meet specific application goals.

  • Develop clear and compelling technical proposals outlining design concepts and value.

  • Prepare cost estimates and scope documents for proposed systems.

  • Participate in sales meetings and business development efforts as a technical subject matter expert.

  • Contribute to pilot testing for process validation and system optimization.

  • Execute detailed engineering tasks, including:

    • Heat and material balances

    • Process flow diagrams (PFDs)

    • Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)

    • Equipment sizing and layout (vessels, exchangers, pumps)

  • Coordinate with project and procurement teams during project execution and startup.

  • Review the work of junior engineers and support team development.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with evaporation and crystallization technologies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Primarily sedentary role requiring sitting, occasional lifting (up to 10 lbs), and limited walking or standing.

  • Full-time, in-person role based at the company's Wisconsin facility.

  • Must demonstrate safe working habits, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical instructions.
