BAS Controls Field Engineer

Job Title: Delta Controls BAS Programmer (Fully Remote)

Location: Remote (U.S./Canada preferred; open to other time zones)
Employment Type: Full-time
PTO: Unlimited PTO

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Programmer specializing in Delta Controls who can design, program, commission, and support smart building systems remotely. You'll work across Delta, Distech Controls (EC‑Net), and Tridium Niagara (AX/N4) platforms to deliver high-quality, standards‑driven solutions for new construction, retrofits, and service projects.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a remote environment, communicates clearly with distributed teams and customers, and takes end‑to‑end ownership-from point mapping to graphics to sequence tuning.

What You'll Do

  • Programming & Configuration

    • Develop and modify Delta Controls programs (e.g., GCL+) for AHUs, VAVs, boilers/chillers, and complex plant sequences.
    • Configure and commission Distech EC‑Net applications and Tridium Niagara N4/AX stations, including points, logic, schedules, and alarms.
    • Build reusable function blocks, libraries, and standardized templates to speed deployment and ensure consistency.
  • Integration & Networking

    • Integrate devices and subsystems via BACnet/IP, MS/TP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and Lon (as applicable).
    • Configure BACnet device instances, BBMDs, and routing; manage Niagara drivers and network hierarchies.
    • Implement secure remote access, certificate management, and follow OT cybersecurity best practices.
  • Visualization & UX

    • Create intuitive graphics and dashboards (EnteliWEB/enteliWEB plugins, Niagara Workbench, EC‑Net) with trends, KPIs, and diagnostic views.
    • Program alarming, scheduling, trend logs, and summaries aligned to sequence-of-operations.
  • Commissioning & Support

    • Perform remote startup and functional testing; collaborate with field techs for I/O checkout and tuning.
    • Troubleshoot controls issues, network faults, and integration problems; deliver clear documentation and as‑builts.
    • Provide owner training and ongoing optimization for comfort, energy, and reliability.
  • Project Delivery

    • Read and interpret mechanical plans, control submittals, I/O lists, and sequence of operations.
    • Maintain version control of programs, graphics, and databases; follow project standards and naming conventions.
    • Contribute to estimating, scope reviews, and value engineering as needed.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 3+ years programming Delta Controls (Deltas: DDC controllers, GCL+, enteliWEB/ENTELIWEB).
  • Hands-on experience with Distech Controls (EC‑Net) and Tridium Niagara (N4/AX)-including station/database development, drivers, PX graphics, users/roles, and backups.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC control sequences (VAV, AHU, RTU, chiller/boiler plants, heat pumps, DOAS, economizers).
  • Proficiency with BACnet and Modbus; point discovery, mapping, and controller/network troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable with IP networking fundamentals (VLANs, DHCP reservations, NAT, firewall rules, BBMDs).
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with excellent documentation and communication skills.
