Building Automation Design Supervisor

Full-Time | 5+ Years Experience Required

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about designing, programming, and optimising smart building solutions across HVAC, lighting, and integrated building services. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, energy‑efficient control systems for commercial and industrial facilities.


Key Responsibilities

System Design & Programming

  • Design and program Building Automation System (BAS) solutions using a range of industry-standard protocols, including BACnet, Modbus, LON, TCP/IP, and others.
  • Develop, test, and implement BAS control strategies for HVAC systems, lighting controls, and environmental monitoring.
  • Configure, integrate, and optimise BAS networks, field controllers, sensors, and actuators to meet project and performance requirements.

Documentation & Configuration Management

  • Develop, maintain, and update all technical documentation, including:
    • System architecture drawings
    • Control logic diagrams
    • Controller configurations
    • Point lists and system parameters
    • O&M and handover documentation
  • Ensure documentation remains accurate and aligned with system updates and project revisions.

Project Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with project managers, consultants, and stakeholders to fully understand system requirements, project scope, and customer expectations.
  • Provide technical expertise during planning, installation, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Support troubleshooting, system adjustments, and optimisation during commissioning.

Technical Support

  • Provide ongoing technical support for installed systems, including remote diagnostics, site visits, and upgrade recommendations.
  • Assist in system retrofits, integrations, and enhancements to improve functionality and energy efficiency.

Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Building Automation, specifically HVAC and lighting control systems.
  • Proven experience programming BAS controllers (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Trend, Siemens, Schneider, Johnson Controls, Distech, BACnet devices).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC sequences, mechanical systems, and electrical integration.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings, wiring schematics, and control logic.
  • Experience with networked control systems, fieldbus communication, and device integration.
  • Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Niagara N4 or AX certifications.
  • Knowledge of energy management principles and system optimisation.
  • Experience with lighting control platforms (DALI, KNX, Lutron, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for connected building systems.
