The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader to head the Building Science Group in Vancouver. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving business development, leading structural design projects, and mentoring a growing team. Reporting to directly to the founders, this role combines technical leadership with strategic growth responsibilities, offering a platform to make a lasting impact on both the team and the broader business.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in structural engineering for buildings.
  • Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and networking functions.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and promotional materials to communicate service value.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships with a focus on trust and collaboration.
  • Lead structural design projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Oversee all project phases including resource planning, technical oversight, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop efficient, innovative solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices.
  • Travel occasionally within Canada

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering design and leadership.
  • Proven history in business development, client relationship management, and revenue growth.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional registration in BC
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
