Controls Engineering Lead

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly organized and technically proficient Controls Engineering Lead r to lead and coordinate building automation projects from concept through completion. This role bridges engineering, operations, and client engagement, ensuring that automation systems-such as HVAC controls, lighting, energy management, and integrated platforms-are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.

The ideal candidate combines strong project management skills with hands-on technical knowledge of building automation systems and a collaborative mindset.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of building automation projects across commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources, ensuring alignment with client expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with engineering, field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure seamless integration and commissioning of BAS systems.
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications to validate system design and implementation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates, resolving issues, and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, and manage logistics for timely delivery.
  • Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality protocols.
  • Support post-installation activities including testing, training, and handover documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in building automation or controls engineering, with at least 2 years in a project management role.
  • Strong understanding of BAS protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) and platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera) and documentation platforms.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency standards and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with international or multi-site project coordination.
