Lead the Charge in Clean Energy Development

Our client is a rapidly growing renewable energy company committed to delivering clean, sustainable solutions that expand access to solar across local communities. With a strong development pipeline and a mission-driven culture, they are seeking a Director of Development - East to lead solar project development efforts in key markets across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, with a focus on Massachusetts and Maryland.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, cross-functional team shaping the next phase of distributed solar growth in high-potential U.S. markets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead market strategy and execution for distributed solar projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic

  • Oversee the full development lifecycle from greenfield to NTP, including real estate, permitting, and stakeholder engagement

  • Define and manage project timelines, risks, budgets, and internal approval processes

  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to a growing development team

  • Coordinate with internal teams across interconnection, engineering, finance, legal, and construction

  • Drive continuous process improvement and reporting structure to enhance team performance

  • Negotiate contracts with external consultants and vendors supporting development activities

  • Represent the development team in leadership discussions related to market and portfolio investments


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of renewable energy experience, ideally with a focus on distributed solar project development

  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing high-performing teams

  • Strong understanding of real estate, permitting, and utility interconnection processes

  • Comfortable navigating dynamic regulatory environments and emerging community solar markets

  • Ability to manage third-party vendors and consultants

  • Strong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or a related field (Master's degree and/or PMP certification preferred)
