Overview
A leading organization in the energy and sustainability sector is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Energy Manager. This role focuses on developing and executing energy procurement strategies, with an emphasis on sourcing clean and cost-effective power through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), collaboration with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and alignment with stakeholder objectives.
This position is ideal for professionals who are fluent in the language of the power industry, understand the financial and operational impacts of utility-scale energy, and have strong relationships with customers and energy developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts for supply-side energy services, including renewable PPAs, virtual PPAs, green tariffs, and energy hedging.
- Build and maintain relationships with energy buyers, IPPs, utilities, and aggregators.
- Advise clients on procurement strategies, energy risk management, and decarbonization pathways.
- Translate market opportunities into actionable energy programs for data center operators and large-scale energy users.
- Monitor and interpret power market trends (ISO/RTOs, capacity markets, LMPs, REC pricing) and communicate implications to stakeholders.
- Develop financial models and risk profiles for energy contracts.
- Align energy programs with ESG goals, investor expectations, and sustainability frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate supply and demand-side energy strategies.
- Represent the organization at industry events and with regulatory bodies as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience negotiating or managing PPAs or similar energy contracts.
- Deep understanding of IPPs, utility market dynamics, and energy procurement strategies.
- Strong relationship-building skills with end users, utilities, and developers.
- Strategic mindset with expertise in sustainability, energy cost, and business risk.
- Experience supporting data centers, REITs, or large real estate portfolios.
- Familiarity with ISO/RTO markets (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, CAISO).
- Proficiency in financial modeling and energy contract analysis.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting and its connection to energy decisions.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Energy, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power markets, utility-scale energy procurement, or corporate energy management.
