Salary: $90,000 - $120,000
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Environmental Permitting Specialist who can provide expertise and leadership in environmental studies and permitting. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for leading tasks and delivering technical execution for environmental permitting efforts related to electric transmission projects. In addition, this role involves supporting project budget and schedule management, coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, preparing proposals and cost estimates, and performing quality control reviews. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with leadership skills to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental resource investigations and prepare permit applications along with detailed environmental reports.
- Participate in public outreach initiatives, including attending workshops and informational events.
- Serve as Task Manager, maintaining control of budgets, scopes, schedules, and deliverable quality for assigned tasks.
- Prepare proposals and develop accurate cost estimates for upcoming projects.
- Coordinate directly with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and smooth project execution.
- Travel occasionally for project site visits, agency meetings, and client consultations.
- Demonstrate expertise in preparing environmental permit applications, including Section 404/401/10, state wetland and waterbody, NPDES, floodplain, and special use permits
- Manage environmental resource investigations supporting permitting tasks, such as wetland and stream delineations, endangered species assessments, and cultural resource studies.
- Act as a trusted team leader, directing both technical and logistical aspects of project execution.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to shifting priorities while managing multiple projects concurrently..
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, utilities, or regulatory sectors.
- Proven ability to prepare permit applications and supporting documentation with accuracy and compliance.
- Strong technical writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
- Experience leading permitting efforts and conducting environmental resource investigations.
- Ability to research and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations to project specifics.
- Demonstrated skill in managing budgets, schedules, and coordinating tasks under project manager oversight.
- Experience interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to ensure smooth communication.
- Capacity to generate well-written, technically sound documents with minimal supervision.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects concurrently.
