Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HVAC/Plumbing Estimator to join our commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical estimating, particularly in HVAC and plumbing systems, and be proficient in QuickPen software. This role is critical to the success of our preconstruction efforts and will contribute directly to the accuracy and competitiveness of our bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC and plumbing scopes on commercial construction projects.
- Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to develop accurate take-offs and pricing.
- Utilize QuickPen software to perform digital take-offs and generate comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure scope alignment and cost accuracy.
- Analyze historical data and market trends to inform pricing strategies.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations with senior leadership.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during the design phase.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing estimating for commercial projects.
- Proficiency in QuickPen (PipeDesigner 3D, AutoBid Mechanical, or similar modules).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with other estimating or project management software is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Estimating for projects in sectors such as healthcare, education, hospitality, and government facilities.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and digital modeling tools.
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendors in the Raleigh market.
