Position Summary
The Head of Process Engineering - Industrial Water & UPW will lead the global process engineering function for water treatment systems, with a specialized focus on Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and high-specification industrial applications. This role will oversee the design and execution of advanced water systems for clients in pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, and data centre operations, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Lead and mentor a global team of process engineers across multiple project locations.
- Oversee the design of UPW, high-purity water, and wastewater treatment systems including RO, EDI, UV, degasification, filtration, and polishing units.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., USP, EP, SEMI, ISO) and client-specific protocols.
- Project Execution
- Provide technical oversight across all project phases: feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Review and approve process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, and control philosophies.
- Support troubleshooting and optimization during commissioning and operational ramp-up.
- Innovation & Optimization
- Drive continuous improvement in process design, digital engineering tools, and modularization strategies.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies for water reuse, energy efficiency, and system automation.
- Collaborate with R&D and OEM partners to pilot and scale next-generation UPW solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Interface with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to present technical solutions and resolve queries.
- Support business development teams with technical input for proposals, tenders, and client presentations.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and technical forums.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Process Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in process engineering for industrial water and UPW systems.
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex EPC projects.
- Deep knowledge of UPW system design, validation, and operation in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, WaterCAD) and digital engineering platforms.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
