ILLINOIS | Project Engineer
My client is currently seeking a Project Engineer with a strong background in highway construction principles to join their team in Illinois. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage roadway/highway construction projects with a focus on quality and client satisfaction
- Monitor construction schedules and project budgets
- Supervise field technicians and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
- Evaluate and document construction operations
- Conduct sampling, testing, and acceptance of materials per standards and special criteria
- Prepare project documentation including progress payments and contract changes
- Perform quality control and review work of others
- Communicate effectively with design teams, clients, and agencies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection and layout staking
- Experience in DOT Construction Management
- One or more DOT material certifications (e.g., Aggregate Production, Bituminous Plant, Concrete Field, Grading and Base, etc.)
- Familiarity with state DOT standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CADD (MicroStation preferred)
Preferred (Not Required):
- Knowledge of topographic and construction surveying
- Roadway design experience using GEOPAK and MicroStation
- Understanding of DOT consulting expectations
