Lead Electrical Engineer
Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Lead Engineer to support the design and execution of commercial and utility-scale solar projects. This role involves leading electrical engineering efforts, managing design budgets, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical engineering scope for commercial and utility-scale solar projects on behalf of the client.
- Manage and track electrical design budgets to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate with the client's project managers on contractual scope, change orders, and deliverables.
- Prepare proposal scopes and fee estimates in response to RFPs.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors involved in the client's projects.
- Plan and allocate weekly engineering resources to meet project demands.
- Serve as the primary electrical engineering contact for the client and lead the development of construction documents.
- Oversee and review electrical calculations and studies, including short circuit, load flow, and voltage drop analyses.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement officials to ensure compliance and smooth execution.
- Perform QA/QC on all electrical design work under your leadership.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Support collaboration across client offices and facilitate workload sharing as needed.
- Assist during construction phases by responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
- Contribute to marketing initiatives and the development of materials showcasing the client's electrical engineering capabilities.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and design technicians working on client projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in solar project design and engineering leadership.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering staff.
