A well-established Illinois-based consulting firm with over 70 years of continuous operation is seeking a Transportation Planner to join its Chicago team. With a strong foundation in municipal engineering and a reputation for integrity, collaboration, and long-term client relationships, this firm offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that shape communities across the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead on a variety of urban planning and land development projects, guiding them from initial concept through to implementation.
  • Analyze zoning regulations, land use patterns, and development potential to inform planning strategies.
  • Engage with public and private stakeholders to ensure projects align with community goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the growth of junior team members through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or a related discipline.
  • 6-10 years of professional experience in urban planning, land use, community development, or related field.
  • AICP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in planning and design tools such as GIS< Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, communities, and colleagues.
