QA/QC Manager(Northern MD)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented On-Site QA/QC Representative to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of substation construction activities on Exelon projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical utility construction, with a focus on substations, and a deep understanding of QA/QC protocols, industry standards, and utility-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC):
- Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures in accordance with Exelon standards, project specifications, and applicable codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC).
- Conduct daily inspections of construction activities including civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical work to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Review and verify contractor submittals, material certifications, and test reports.
- Monitor and document installation practices, ensuring adherence to quality standards and identifying any deviations or non-conformances.
- Coordinate and witness field testing (e.g., relay testing, cable meggering, grounding resistance, transformer testing).
- Maintain detailed QA/QC logs, inspection reports, and punch lists.
- Facilitate corrective actions and verify resolution of quality issues.
Project Oversight & Coordination:
- Serve as the primary on-site quality liaison between the contractor, Exelon representatives, and subcontractors.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and QA/QC audits.
- Support the development and implementation of site-specific quality plans.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of all construction and testing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of turnover packages and as-built documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in accordance with Exelon and OSHA standards.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of QA/QC or field inspection experience in substation or utility construction.
- Certifications: NETA, NICET, or similar QA/QC certifications are a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of substation components and construction practices.
- Familiarity with Exelon standards and documentation systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QA/QC tracking software.
Work Environment:
- Field-based role with exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction environments.
- Must be able to walk, climb, and lift as required for site inspections.
