Rail Track Design Manager
The Track Design Manager will lead the management and production of rail design projects, with a focus on alignment and track geometry. This role works closely with project managers and discipline leads to develop conceptual and detailed designs, cost estimates, bid items, specifications, and technical reports. The position is ideal for someone who is technically strong, team‑oriented, and motivated to mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all aspects of track geometry design, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet schedule and budget expectations.
* Oversee preparation of design plans, calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and specifications.
* Ensure all work meets the project's QA/QC standards.
* Collaborate closely with design teams and other technical disciplines throughout project development.
* Lead project meetings, develop work plans, and communicate resource needs.
* Manage production schedules and proactively communicate project status.
* Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and support performance development.
* Support coordination on both domestic and international rail projects as needed
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
* Active Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license in California.
* Minimum 8-10 years of experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams on rail design projects.
* Familiarity with European High-Speed Rail standards is a plus.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, senior staff, and clients.
* Experience on international infrastructure projects or alternative delivery methods is beneficial.
