Transportation Project Manager - Civil Engineering
An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a dynamic and experienced Transportation Project Manager to join its team in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to lead and mentor a team of skilled engineers working on a variety of multi-modal transportation planning and design projects across the state and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead transportation planning and design projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Manage projects involving interchanges, highway widening and reconstruction, new streets, intersection improvements, ADA compliance, sidewalks, trails, and facility upgrades.
- Review and certify engineering plans and documents to ensure quality and compliance.
- Conduct interchange alternative studies and recommend design solutions.
- Mentor junior staff on transportation design tasks and best practices.
- Apply knowledge of multi-modal transportation design standards, software tools, and industry guidelines.
- Oversee the production of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Facilitate meetings and presentations with internal teams and clients.
- Coordinate project staff and sub-consultants.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and the firm.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project teams.
- Support proposal development and business growth initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in civil or transportation/highway engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, InRoads, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local design criteria.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and local municipalities.
- Active involvement in professional engineering societies.
