SCADA Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Substation SCADA Engineer to support the design, integration, and maintenance of SCADA systems within high-voltage substations. This role is essential to ensuring real-time monitoring, control, and automation of substation operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with SCADA protocols, RTU configuration, and substation communication networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement SCADA systems for transmission and distribution substations, including RTU programming, HMI development, and communication setup.
- Configure and maintain data acquisition systems, ensuring accurate and reliable telemetry.
- Collaborate with protection and control engineers to integrate SCADA with relay systems and automation schemes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA-related issues in field and office environments.
- Develop and maintain documentation including wiring diagrams, network layouts, and configuration files.
- Ensure compliance with NERC CIP, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.
- Support commissioning and testing of SCADA systems during substation construction and upgrades.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in SCADA engineering, preferably in a utility or consulting environment.
- Familiarity with SCADA platforms (e.g., GE, SEL, Siemens, OSI) and communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850).
- Experience with AutoCAD, network configuration, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- PE license or ability to obtain is a plus.
