Senior Civil Engineer - Aviation
Job Description:
A leading and rapidly growing airport engineering consultancy is seeking a REMOTE Aviation Senior Civil Engineer to join its team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to advance your career while contributing to the expansion and modernization of major airports across the U.S. and internationally-including high-profile projects at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams. This position involves detailed design work and the preparation of reports, technical specifications, and proposals for airport-related construction projects.
Typical civil airside development projects include:
- Airfield pavements
- Airfield geometry
- Grading and drainage
- Utilities
- Stormwater management facilities
- Other associated construction items
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support civil aviation projects.
- Deliver project scope elements on time and within budget.
- Prepare design plans and technical specifications in accordance with FAA Advisory Circulars and DOT standards.
- Conduct stormwater modeling and prepare stormwater management reports.
- Develop grading plans and assist with permitting and construction documentation.
- Write technical and design reports.
- Support business development and maintain client relationships.
- Participate in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to discuss project needs and design/permitting issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
- PE license preferred (or ability to obtain within 12-18 months); EIT certification required.
- 7-10 years of experience in site civil engineering for airport design, including geometric, pavement, and utility design.
- Strong background in grading and drainage design.
- Proficiency in stormwater management reporting and modeling.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept to detailed design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Civil 3D experience preferred.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing technical specifications aligned with DOT standards.
- Familiarity with FAA and DOT grant procedures, aviation-related approvals (e.g., TCAP, TAA, FAA Form 7460), and environmental permitting is a plus.
