Senior Estimator- Utility Construction
Our client has been a trusted name in infrastructure construction for over 100 years, is looking for a Senior Estimator to lead the development of accurate, competitive project cost estimates for large-scale and multi-project bids. This is a high-impact role where you'll collaborate across teams, mentor junior estimators, and help shape the future of critical utility and civil infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for complex utility and civil construction projects.
- Coordinate input from project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure complete and accurate bids.
- Review RFPs, drawings, and specifications; conduct site visits as needed.
- Develop pricing strategies and present proposals to clients.
- Support project teams with budget handoffs and ongoing cost tracking.
- Maintain and improve estimating tools, databases, and best practices.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team development.
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of estimating experience in utility construction (transmission, distribution, substations, civil/sitework).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in HeavyBid estimating software is a must.
- Strong skills in takeoffs, cost analysis, subcontractor pricing, and bid strategy.
- Familiarity with tools like Excel, Word, Primavera/MS Project, Bluebeam, and HCSS.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Deep understanding of construction methods, safety standards, and union labor agreements.
