A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing team in Salt Lake City. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to lead complex geotechnical investigations, mentor junior staff, and contribute to major infrastructure and development projects across the Mountain West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical investigations for transportation, energy, water resources, and commercial development projects.
- Oversee field exploration programs including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Perform advanced geotechnical analyses including slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and foundation design.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and construction recommendations.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and field staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- PE license required; Utah PE or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in consulting or applied research.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE), and construction practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead technical teams.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with regional geology and seismic conditions in the Intermountain West.
- Experience with transportation (DOT), municipal, or federal agency projects.
- Business development or client-facing experience is a plus.
