Our client is a Texas-based, multi-disciplinary engineering and design firm with over 30 years of experience serving the DFW region and beyond. Known for its collaborative team culture, technical excellence, and long-standing relationships in both public and private sectors, the firm offers integrated services in civil, structural, MEP engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture.

The office is home to a close-knit team of civil engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and a mechanical group many of whom began as interns and chose to grow their careers with the firm. The team enjoys flexible scheduling, regular happy hours, and a culture of mentorship and support.

The Opportunity

This is a strategic succession hire. The current Head of Landscape Architecture is planning to retire in mid-2026, and the selected candidate will work closely with them over the next few months to transition into the department leadership role.

You'll step into a senior role immediately, leading project work and mentoring junior staff, while preparing to take full ownership of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead diverse landscape architecture projects from concept through construction.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers and other disciplines to deliver integrated site solutions.
  • Manage project teams and mentor junior designers.
  • Engage in business development and maintain client relationships.
  • Oversee design for parks, bike trails, nature preserves, and single-family developments.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates using industry-standard software.
  • Conduct site visits and manage construction administration as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) in Texas.
  • 8+ years of experience in landscape architecture
  • Strong portfolio of public and private sector work
  • Ideally have experience with business development and client engagement
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across disciplines.
  • Passion for sustainable design and community impact.
