About the Role

My client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for cutting-edge data center projects. This includes HVAC systems (equipment specification, airside distribution, mechanical piping), BMS controls, fuel storage, and plumbing. You'll provide technical leadership for construction drawings, specifications, system studies, and master planning efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, and BIM specialists on complex design and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver fully integrated projects.
  • Independently manage smaller projects with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct site visits across the U.S. for surveys and construction reviews.
  • Perform load/energy calculations and equipment selection using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and specifications.
  • Ensure code compliance and provide QA/QC for design work.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to proposal development.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • PE license preferred (EIT acceptable).
  • 5+ years of experience designing HVAC systems for data centers, telecom, or high-tech facilities.
  • LEED certification a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
