Project Manager - Traffic Engineering

About the Role
A Southern California engineering group is seeking a Project Manager to support traffic engineering and transportation design projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong production experience who is ready to take the next step into project management or continue growing in a PM capacity. The team has a steady backlog, supportive leadership, and a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support traffic engineering projects from design through delivery
- Prepare and review plans, specifications, and estimates
- Coordinate with internal teams across multiple office locations
- Communicate with clients, agencies, and project partners
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and task management
- Provide mentorship to junior staff when needed
- Maintain quality standards and ensure on-time deliverables
Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience in traffic engineering design
- Experience with public-sector traffic projects (signals, signing and striping, ITS, lighting, etc.)
- EIT preferred; PE helpful for higher-level responsibilities
- Familiarity with local public agency standards and PS&E processes
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment (minimum one in-office day weekly)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Experience
- Background working with Caltrans or county transportation departments
- Solid production experience with traffic design deliverables
- Experience in small to mid-sized consulting environments
- Interest in growing into a full PM role with training and mentorship
